Air Booster Regulators

When's the last time you invested in a piece of business equipment that actually worked without you needing to fuss with it? Take a look around your workshop. If you're like most people in the industry, then you have a number of devices that either isn't functional or need some kind of proprietary equipment to get going.

Some of the gear you have might even require special batteries before it even turns on!

Pneumatic booster regulators increase the pressure in your main airlines without ever needing electrical input. They're a rare example of a part that doesn't require you to throw lots of money at various other add-ons before it works.

Best of all, they're always in stock at SMC Pneumatics. You won't have to worry about tracking down a source of the right kind for your business since our equipment is based around industry standards.

Consider the following list of advantages, and you'll quickly find out why these helpful pressure governors have been finding their way into compressed air-driven workflows across the entire world.

Benefits of Using Booster Regulators

  • Increases Main Line Pressure
  • Compact Design
  • Protects Downstream Equipment from Pressure Fluctuation
  • Increases the power of actuator without changing to a larger cylinder
  • No need for electrical input

On top of all of this, they're relatively easy to maintain. If you're trying to find parts that will fit the lines you currently have installed, then you're in luck because they're offered in all the following NPT exhaust port sizes:

  • ¼"
  • ?"
  • ½"

Connecting ports are always offered in the same NPT sizes as well, which means that connecting input and output lines shouldn't be at all difficult either.

Depending on the size of the ports, you could get devices that offer different flow rates. Those that feature ¼" ports will always offer maximum flow rates of 230 slpm, for instance. If you have a larger ?" unit, then you're looking at upwards of 1,000 slpm. Businesses that need giant ½" lines can get regulators that boast a power 1,900 slpm of maximum flow rate. Most companies won't need anything that offers this kind of performance, but the option is there if you need it.

Regardless of what you select, however, all of our booster regulators offer the same balanced 1:2 maximum flow ratio. This means you won't have to spend a ton of time working with complicated mathematics to figure out how much output you'll get from any given input values.

Even if you're not entirely sure on what type of equipment to buy, the choice isn't at all difficult. Simply match the diameter of lines you currently have installed in your place of business with the different models of booster regulators. Once you have a piece in place, it should be able to accomplish the task of boosting your air circuit's pressure regardless of any of these measurements.

Over time, this can translate into substantial monetary savings since you won't have to keep running active pieces of equipment to build pressure up in the line.

Saving Money by Installing Booster Regulators

Let's say that you wanted to increase the power of a pneumatic actuator, which naturally means you need the PSI levels in the lines feeding the actuator to increase. As a result, you install a larger cylinder to provide great flow levels. Give this some thought before you say that it's a good idea.

While this is precisely what you'd want to do in many cases, you're relying on another active piece of equipment. That translates into more money spent powering it. On top of that, you'll have to throw more cash into maintenance too.

A booster regulator can do the job without any power, which means you don't have to pay to provide it with anything to get it to do its job. That's not to say that it's magical or a source of perpetual energy. You can never create energy out of nothing nor can you destroy it. Such things would certainly lower the costs of running a small business, but they defy the laws of physics.

Rather, these regulators simply adjust the flow of media through the line so you can make the most of the pressure you have. A simple glance at the convenient analog pressure gauges on top should be more than enough to prove that they're more than capable of this amazing feat without any sort of hocus pocus.

Perhaps you've balked at the idea of analog gauges in our increasingly digital world. If that's the case, then you might very well be impressed at all they can do.

Advantages of Readouts on Booster Regulators

Unlike digital gauges, analog ones are more durable in rough outdoor environments. They're capable of taking quite a beating, which is especially important for companies that work under less than ideal conditions. While they may not be as incredibly precise as digital ones, they don't take any power and they can show minuscule fluctuations that couldn't trip a digital meter.

Of course, companies that need more precise equipment can always interface their booster regulators with other types of pneumatic gear. Anything that fits the same input and output line diameters should work just fine. The installation process is easy enough that you won't need any unusual tools even if you want to put some kind of precision measuring device on the same circuit.

Everything you need can be found in the same toolbox that you've used to maintain your existing pneumatic tools.
