We recommend using these brakes in atmospheres that have an ambient pressure between -40-140 degrees Fahrenheit. Connect with tubing that is made of nylon and check your proof pressure for the various sizes. The thread sealant is a fluorine and acrylic blend.

KV2 fittings are used for commercial trucks, transit, trailer, and specialty vehicle markets. They work very well to connect your air brakes with the necessary tubing to help them function. One-touch technology makes tube insertion (with strong tube holding force) and removal easier. KV2’s patented seal allows tube cut angles to be well above the heavy vehicle industry standard. KV2 meets FMVSS 571.106, SAE J1131 and SAE J2494 standards.

What Is DOT Compliance?

DOT refers to the Department of Transportation, which is the bureaucratic body that mandates safety for those who use the road, water or skies to reach destinations. Government officials designate DOT compliance as abiding by the federal regulations that they set, which are meant to reduce potential risks.

While you can use management software to keep up to date about the changing standards, the computer programs cannot do the actual act of replacement. That is up to you, the vehicle owner, and the mechanics that you hire. Thus you need to know when you need to get your DOT compliant fittings. You also need to register with the department to get a USDOT number. Failure to comply can lead to fines or jail time in the worst case.

Which vehicles, in particular, have to implement DOT compliance? Commercial motor vehicles are the standard ones, but others include if you are transporting hazardous materials or a certain amount of people. You also need to meet DOT standards if your total vehicle weight is a minimum of 4,536 kg, which is 1,0001 pounds in customary.

If you transport more than eight people for compensation, say on a bus, then you need to comply. The same goes if you transport fifteen people without compensation. The government wants to ensure that regulations reduce any potential moral hazards.
