C96S(D), ISO Cylinder, Double Acting, Single/Double Rod
Series C96 cylinders conform to ISO 15552.  The series is available with a single or double rod in 6 bore sizes from ø32 to ø125mm.  High accuracy covers and tie rod nuts improve mounting accuracy and extend the cylinder life.  Increasing the precision of the bushing and piston rod, as well as reducing tolerances, has decreased the deflection of the piston rod.  Standard strokes range from 25 to 800mm.

Series C96 Cylinders

Are the single or double rod cylinders you user in your pneumatic-powered workshop up to code? Take a few moments to think about it. While it's not okay if you're not sure of the answer right away, it's not surprising.

Very few technicians are actually sure of whether or not every piece of equipment they've invested in is ready to do its job. Small business owners and laboratory operators often don't know much more about their operations than anyone else.

That's a scary thought, but it's easy enough to fix in your place of business. All members of the product series C96 are fully compliant with ISO 15552 regulations, which means they're ready to interface with almost any other parts that conform to these standards. They're available with both single or double rods in six different bore sizes. At SMC Pneumatics, we want to make sure you have access to all of the parts you need in preferred sizes.

That's why we only stock compliant components. Standardization always makes things easier when assembling compressed air-driven equipment.

No matter what size equipment you're looking for, this dynamic product series will have it.

C96 Rod Sizes

If you've ever wasted the better part of a day trying to find the right sized component for a job, then you're not alone. It can be extremely irritating to look through your entire spare parts supply only to find you don't actually have the part you're looking for. That's why we've taken the time to clearly spell out how these cylinders ship.

C96 cylinders come in all of the following millimeter specifications:

  • ø32
  • ø40
  • ø50
  • ø63
  • ø80
  • ø100
  • ø125

Sizing isn't the only advantage they have to offer, but it's a big one. If you were to take a tool and measure the bore on them, then you'd find that these specifications are as exact as one could get under normal circumstances. Few organizations would ever need something that was any more precise than this.

That being said, even if your company was engaged in an extremely exacting industrial process you shouldn't have any issues. C96 cylinders are designed with several other features in mind.

Sophisticated Features Offered by Part C96S(D)

As you know, these 96-type cylinders adhere to ISO rules and come in useful bore sizes. Series C96 cylinders conform to ISO 15552. The series is available with a single or double rod in 6 bore sizes from ø32 to ø125mm. However, that's not all they have to offer prospective users.

High accuracy covers and tie rod nuts improve mounting accuracy and extend the cylinder life. These also help to keep out unwanted dust and dirt, so you don't have to worry about anything ruining your new tool.

Anyone who has done a significant amount of work in a corrosive environment will certainly understand the utility of these kinds of seals. On top of this, engineers have been able to increase some other design specs as well.

Increasing the precision of the bushing and piston rod, as well as reducing tolerances, has decreased the deflection of the piston rod. Standard strokes range from 25 to 800mm. This should be more than enough for even the most discerning technicians to work with.

Keep in mind that these are double acting rods in spite of all the standards that they adhere to. That means they can fit into literally any application that calls for this kind of technology. No matter what sort of processes you're working with, there's generally at least some way to fit a C96 into the equation.

Perhaps, though, it's the reduced tolerances that provide the biggest benefits for a majority of business owners.

Tolerances & Your Place of Business

Many people have fond -- or not so fond-- memories of getting parts to work only after hours of troubleshooting. By reducing the tolerances that this cylinder employs, this is much less of an issue than before. You won't have to worry nearly as much about running your equipment within a certain series of boundaries.

It's never safe to operate gear out of spec, but that's not the issue here. Rather, these cylinders boast very broad specifications so they can fit into a wide variety of use cases. They're built sturdy and remain safe under all conditions that they're rated for. This makes them an ideal choice for those who are concerned about the equipment they're currently working with.

For instance, say you have a series of worn out cylinders that are long past their prime. There's a point at which it becomes impractical to use them. If you continue to push things beyond this date, then you'll eventually start to increase your risk of suffering a more dramatic breakdown.

Now assume that one of the cylinders you've had this issue with is the same size as one of the C96 types. That's not too big of a leap of faith considering how many different sizes they're offered in. You could simply acquire one of these, disconnect the old one and put the new one in place. Besides this, you shouldn't have to do much other work since these units come ready-to-run.

That's not to say that you can't tweak your air circuits, of course. Part replacement chores give you the perfect opportunity to make other needed improvements so your gear is working at peak efficiency.

Finding Cylinders that Meet Your Business' Needs

Insisting on standard parts will make your job much easier. You'll never have to worry again about whether or not something is going to fit together once you switch over to components that are compliant will all relevant standards and codes.

Contact us today for more information on pneumatic parts that can replace your existing rods as well as any other assets you'd like to swap out. Series C96 parts should serve as drop-in replacements for what you're currently using, and since they're so durable you shouldn't need to consider replacement again for quite some time.
